Internet Privacy.

I was reading a recent post over at March to the Sea's blog and it reminded me of a blog a friend showed me a while back. This blog is semi-pornographic, semi-voyeuristic, and is obviously run by a perv.

Over at Busty Webshots someone, or a group, has taken on the task of scouring the web for pictures of young girls (most are obviously under 18), and collecting them for their blog. The concept doesn't really bother me, nor do the photos, they are all non-nude. What bothers me is how care free people are about their privacy with the internet. Many of the people I encounter online don't ever reveal their first name, not to mention a photo. And yet, some other people are willing to reveal so much, be it name, address, phone number, or collections of semi-nude photos. As you can see from my user profile over there --->>>, I am willing to share my name and my town. You don't see my photo, you don't know my last name. You don't even know which Lars in Wallingford that I am. There are at least 4 of us in Wallingford last time I checked. If you're not careful with what you reveal online you could end up like this woman. Debbie, author of Fresh Air Lover, found out the hard way what could happen if you reveal too much online. Luckily for her she was only hurt emotionally, and not physically. Unfortunately it is the emotional scars that have the potential to last longer.

I don't have an agenda with this post. I just wanted to muse on the danger of being too open on line. Keep it safe people.

PS: I'm adding a link to both of the above mentioned blog. The first one because I know you're all perv's and are going to be visiting BustWebShots on a daily basis. The second one because I found her other posts to be amusing.
